Mining Fundamentals Workshop
For adults who want a clear picture of home crypto mining before they spend on ASICs, GPUs, or a second circuit — delivered as a half-day group lesson in South Australia.
Who it is for
Homeowners, renters with landlord permission, and small operators who can read a power bill and want to understand whether mining fits their shed, garage, or dedicated rack. You do not need prior mining experience. You should be comfortable with basic computer setup and honest about your electricity tariff.
Result you walk away with
A completed cost worksheet for your own kilowatt-hour rate, a shortlist of hardware classes that fit your space and noise tolerance, and a written decision: run a pilot, wait for cooler months, or leave mining alone for now. The goal is a calm, informed choice — not maximum hashrate at any cost.
Scope
- Hashrate explained with simple analogies and live calculator walkthroughs
- Wall power, PSU overhead, and how summer ambient heat changes behaviour
- Pool types, fee lines, and how payouts appear on a statement
- Noise, dust, and neighbour considerations for Australian suburbs and rural blocks
- A personal action sheet with next questions for an electrician if needed
Included
Printed worksheet pack, sample tariff comparison for SA residential rates, access to a follow-up email thread for two weeks after the session, and tea or coffee on site. Gabrielle Silcock facilitates; guest electricians appear only when listed on the workshop calendar.
Not included
Hardware sales, installation labour, electrical certification, hosting contracts, or managed mining accounts. We do not place orders on your behalf or promise returns.
Duration & delivery
Four hours including a short break. Sessions run on scheduled Saturdays in Glossop or a hired Riverland classroom listed on the calendar. Maximum twelve participants so questions stay specific. Remote attendance is not offered for this workshop because hardware samples and noise demos are part of the room.
Preparation
Bring your latest electricity bill (or a clear photo of the usage and rate pages), approximate dimensions of the space you plan to use, and any hardware you already own. Wear closed shoes if we are visiting a demonstration shed that day.
Constraints
We teach within Australian consumer and electrical safety norms. Any circuit changes must be completed by a licensed electrician. Minors under 18 need a parent or guardian present.
